The essential function of the position within the organization is to conduct operational and performance audits. The position is responsible for conducting audits, managing special projects, assisting with, or performing internal investigations, performing related administrative functions, evaluating internal controls and compliance, developing audit plans and programs, interacting with supervisory/management personnel, and preparing reports. The position works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
Education and Training Guidelines
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a closely related field and three years of professional experience.
Coordinates or determines time, place, or sequence of operations or activities based on analysis of data and possibly executes determinations or reports on events.
Persuades or influences others in favor of a service, point of view, or course of action; may enforce laws, rules, regulations, or ordinances. Obtains information.
Requires responsibility and opportunity for achieving economies and/or preventing losses through the auditing of assets.
Uses practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, measurements, and/or descriptive statistics.
Reads professional journals, abstracts, financial reports, and legal documents; writes reports; makes presentations to professional groups.
Complexity of Work:
Performs work involving the application of logical principles and thinking to solve practical problems within or applying to a unit or division of the organization; requires continuous, close attention for accurate results.
Impact of Decisions:
Affects work unit and may affect other units as well.
Handles work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as computers, peripherals, or software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets or custom accounting applications.
