Position Title: Senior Attorney I (.5 FTE)

Job Location: Office of the State Courts Administrator, Court Education, Tallahassee, Florida

Salary: $2,529.64 (Monthly)


This position performs highly responsible work assisting in the development, implementation and evaluation of judicial branch education programs primarily for Florida judges.  The Senior Attorney I provides legal support to judicial branch committees; drafts or edits educational materials; performs legal review of contracts; establishes a broad range of working contacts with the judiciary and other judicial branch employees; exercises considerable independent judgment and works under the supervision of the Supervising Senior Attorney and the Chief of Court Education. Work may involve confidential and sensitive issues before the courts.  Work will involve both travel and programs done via distance learning.


Special Comments:

*Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of judicial branch education preferred. Knowledge of adult learning theory and adult teaching methodology desirable. Ability to prepare judicial education manuals and materials required. The position requires regular, periodic travel.

*Knowledge and understanding of the operations of the Florida judicial system is helpful. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively and the ability to multi-task and establish priorities are necessary skills. Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and computer software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, etc. required.  Successful candidate should be comfortable being self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills.


Education and Training Guidelines:

Juris doctorate degree and five years of related experience.

Requires membership in the Florida Bar.

*An advanced degree in learning technologies or instructional design would be helpful.

Performs work involving the application of broad principles of professional management and leadership to solve new problems for which conventional solutions do not exist; requires sustained, intense concentration for accurate results and continuous exposure to unusual pressure.

Makes decisions with serious impact - affects some units in organization and may affect other citizens.

Equipment Usage:
Leads or handles machines, tools, equipment or work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as computers, peripherals, or software programs, such as word processing.

Safety To Others:
Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.
